A well deserved award!

A well deserved award!

This is a fantastic achievement for a group of local volunteers who came together in 2008, with the goal of improving the condition and appearance of the local area, from weekly beach cleans to beautiful flower arrangements.

Here’s Meg and Michelle receiving their certificate.

Friday, 29th August – photos

As you can see from the photographs it was a good turnout on Friday, 29th August for the Jubilee House coffee morning.  These are very informative meetings and a great opportunity for the community to meet up!

Another coffee morning…

A fabulous turnout at the coffee morning held at Jubilee House on Friday, 29th August.  Danbro, Conlons, local residents, friends of the estuary, local counsellor and the Blackpool Gazette were all there.

A great event that brings the local community together to openely discuss the Jubilee House development as well as the chance to take a brief tour of the inside of the building.    Some lovely tea and delicious cakes as well!

Gordon from Conlon’s opened the meeting with a brief overview of where we are in terms of building completion and Damian and Helen, co-owners of Danbro, confirmed that we will be in the building, and fully operational, from the 5th January.

Despite the wettest August in history we are still on track.  So this is it…the final countdown (I’m sure that sounds like a song to me!).

Well done to all involved in hosting the coffee morning.  See you at the next one!

“Love our Estuary” Days – a great event

A fabulous time was had by all at the Love our Estuary Days held on Sunday, 25th and Monday, 26th at the Windmill in Lytham.  A great turn out and an opportunity to have a quick look inside Jubilee House.  Charlie Conlon joined in the fun as well.

Another great coffee meeting…

our thanks to Gordon, site manager, for organising another fabulous coffee morning at Jubilee House last Thursday. Representatives from Conlon, local residents, Friends of the Estuary and Danbro were all there.

As usual it was a very open and interesting forum with a brief presentation by Gordon and Damian, MD of Danbro, highlighting the building developments and changes going forward, with a question and answer session at the end.

Everybody seated!

The Lytham Beach Clean up!

Today (23.04.14) the Friends of the Estuary Coastal Care Group, Conlon Construction and Danbro took part in a beach clean up.  This is something the Friends of the Estuary Coastal Care Group do every week but this time we were able to join them!

All ready to go!

All ready to go!

We met at 1030 am at Jubilee House  where Meg from the Friends of the Estuary, gave us a brief overview of what the clean up was all about.  It’s not just about maintaining the award winning surrounding beaches of Lytham but also about trying to protect the birds and wildlife, many of which are hurt or even killed by the debris swept up and rubbish left on the beaches.

Following a quick Health & Safety briefing by Jim we were split into teams, given our instructions (the buddy system and to have fun) and off we went.

Within a matter of minutes the amount of rubbish collected was unbelievable…from bottles, cans, crisp packets, lighters, car tyres, huge pieces of metal and 100s of plastic bags!   And when the bin bags were full we called it a day (although many wanted to continue).  But what a great achievement and fabulous team work!

At the end of the clean up!
